Youth Care Worker FT/PT & PRN SHIFTS

Local non-profit emergency shelter for children removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect needs dynamic, caring individuals to work full-time/part-time & PRN second & third shift positions within the Emergency Shelter. Youth Care Workers provide supervision of children in residence, consistency and structure in daily routines, assistance with record keeping, and overall duties necessary for the care and well-being of the children, many of whom have suffered trauma and have behavioral challenges.

Youth Care Specialist/Morning Mom

The Youth Care Specialist/Morning Mom will coordinate getting the youth that currently reside in our Emergency Shelter, as well as our Homeless Teen Shelter up and ready for school in the morning, ensure proper hygiene measures have been taken, assist kids in cleaning up their rooms and making their beds, and provide proper breakfast/snacks Monday-Friday. The overall goal of this position is to enhance the quality of care in the mornings to ensure each child has a positive start to their day and all of their daily living skills are being met. This position requires an ability to maintain strict confidentiality, communicate with multiple staff, and initial organization and structure for the unit.

This position has the responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of children in the residential emergency shelter, taking children to doctor appointments, enrolling children in school, camps, and other activities, attending activities at the school with the child, transporting the client to school and/or appointments, assisting with record keeping and specific program functions and performing duties necessary for the overall care and well-being of children in the residence.

Duties include:

  • Preparing a hot breakfast and assisting getting the kids off to school
  • Assisting with transportation of the kids
  • Scheduling and taking clients to doctor appointments; getting them enrolled in school; etc
  • Assist in the continuing implementation of an intentionally structured environment to help reinforce proper behaviors through the context of community life and responsibility.
  • Assume responsibility for the direct supervision of children placed in the residential cottages.
  • Follow the program schedule, activities calendar, instructions and assignments outlined by Shift Leader and Cottage Coordinator.
  • Provide appropriate role modeling and direction to the children in their daily routines while listening to the children and meeting their needs.
