Youth Care Worker FT/PT & PRN SHIFTS

Local non-profit emergency shelter for children removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect needs dynamic, caring individuals to work full-time/part-time & PRN second & third shift positions within the Emergency Shelter. Youth Care Workers provide supervision of children in residence, consistency and structure in daily routines, assistance with record keeping, and overall duties necessary for the care and well-being of the children, many of whom have suffered trauma and have behavioral challenges.

Youth Care Specialist/Morning Mom

The Youth Care Specialist/Morning Mom will coordinate getting the youth that currently reside in our Emergency Shelter, as well as our Homeless Teen Shelter up and ready for school in the morning, ensure proper hygiene measures have been taken, assist kids in cleaning up their rooms and making their beds, and provide proper breakfast/snacks Monday-Friday. The overall goal of this position is to enhance the quality of care in the mornings to ensure each child has a positive start to their day and all of their daily living skills are being met. This position requires an ability to maintain strict confidentiality, communicate with multiple staff, and initial organization and structure for the unit.

This position has the responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of children in the residential emergency shelter, taking children to doctor appointments, enrolling children in school, camps, and other activities, attending activities at the school with the child, transporting the client to school and/or appointments, assisting with record keeping and specific program functions and performing duties necessary for the overall care and well-being of children in the residence.

Duties include:

  • Preparing a hot breakfast and assisting getting the kids off to school
  • Assisting with transportation of the kids
  • Scheduling and taking clients to doctor appointments; getting them enrolled in school; etc
  • Assist in the continuing implementation of an intentionally structured environment to help reinforce proper behaviors through the context of community life and responsibility.
  • Assume responsibility for the direct supervision of children placed in the residential cottages.
  • Follow the program schedule, activities calendar, instructions and assignments outlined by Shift Leader and Cottage Coordinator.
  • Provide appropriate role modeling and direction to the children in their daily routines while listening to the children and meeting their needs.

Teen Homeless and Transitional Living Occupational Therapist

This specialist will provide appropriate care and support to teens going through emotional trauma and distress through the therapeutic use of everyday activities thus helping clients to develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working, leading clients to independent, productive lives.

WORK SCHEDULE: Your work schedule is subject to change and includes working all assigned holidays

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Evaluate client’s condition and needs; creating treatment plans and specific goals to be accomplished
  • Provide customized services as per different needs of the clients.
  • Help clients with daily tasks like laundry, cooking and schoolwork.
  • Build skills to enter the workforce.
  • Attend treatment team meetings and educate treatment team and staff about client needs and how to provide adequate care to them.
  • Help clients participate in social activities.*
  • Conduct group sessions on topics such as anxiety and/or other topics.*
  • Prepare reports and maintain case records in accordance with agency procedures.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Keep therapeutic skills updated by utilizing professional literature and training events.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

  • Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR)

Psychiatrist

 Youth Haven is seeking a Board Certified Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist to fill an immediate need in an outpatient setting. This individual will be responsible for performing psychiatric evaluations and medication management to children living in Youth Haven’s emergency shelters, as well as to children and adults within the Naples community. The position will start with 1-2 days a month (approximately 8-12 hours a month) with the opportunity to expand with the practice. Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus. Required:

  • FL State License
  • Board Certification in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Active DEA required
  • NPI# required

POSITIONYOUTH EMPOWERMENT MENTOR

REPORTS TO:  This position reports to the HTTLP Cottage Manager.

DEPARTMENT: Homeless Teen Transitional Living Program (HTTLP)

PURPOSE:  The Youth Empowerment Mentor has the responsibility to assist with the residential component of Rob’s Cottage as it relates to providing high quality care and support for homeless teens and older youth in foster care. The role of the mentor is to empower youth to develop personal skills and to involve them in creating a positive living environment with their peers. The residential component also includes client supervision, behavior management and participation in life skills activities.

EMPLOYMENT CATEGORY:   Full Time and Part Time

Open shifts:  M-F 4pm-12am: M-F Overnight 11:30pm-7:30am: Part Time Weekends

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide supervision and monitor resident behavior
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed or as directed
  • Support, empower and mentor youth in meeting their goals
  • Monitor and participate in life skills classes
