Youth Haven has been selected to partner with Shy Wolf Sanctuary’s Healing Hearts Program. Through this partnership, Shy Wolf Sanctuary will provide the children and teens of Youth Haven with an education and hands-on encounter with rescue animals.
Youth Haven Executive Director Jinx Liggett said, “This collaboration is a welcome experience for the children and teens of Youth Haven. We are thrilled to have the opportunity for our children to learn and heal with the support of such a wonderful community partner.”
The purpose of this collaboration is to connect children and animals that have similar traumatic pasts of being abused, neglected or abandoned. A healing connection is made and the animals help teach the children about kindness, forgiveness, gratitude, courage and unconditional love.
Youth Haven is Southwest Florida’s only emergency and residential shelter for children ages 6-18 who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, abandonment or neglect.
Shy Wolf Sanctuary is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to “reconnect people and animals through education.” Shy Wolf Sanctuary provides a permanent home to over 60 captive-bred or rescued exotic animals every year. The wolves and other resident animals are housed on a 2.5 acre property in Naples, FL and are supported by over 30 active volunteers.
